Kinetic typography quote video

Bold words that fill the frame, a beat at a time, timed to how people read. Motion graphics for a quote without a timeline full of keyframes.

To make a kinetic typography quote video, type your quote above, press Make my video, open Animate and choose Big words or Poster stack. The quote is cut into short beats at natural pauses, each beat sized to fill the width of the frame, and they punch in one after another while the author waits for the last word.

The timing is worked out from the words: short beats for short words, a longer hold on the word that matters, a pause at each full stop. Change the Reading pace, move a page break by tapping between two words, or mark the key word with Highlight and it gets a beat and a colour of its own. Every frame is drawn in your browser, so what you see in the preview is exactly what the MP4 contains.

How to make kinetic typography for a quote

  1. Type the quote

Short, punchy quotes work best; long ones simply get more beats.

  2. Choose Big words or Poster stack

In Animate, point at a style to preview it with your words, then click it.

  3. Shape the beats

Under Pages, tap the space before a word to start a new beat there, or tap a gold bar to join two.

  4. Set the pace and export

Drag Reading pace, press Fit the scene length to the words, then Export.

What makes it look like motion graphics

  • Words sized to the frame: each line of a beat is set as large as the width allows, so a single word can fill the screen and short words like “of the” sit small beside it.
  • Proper easing: entrances use springs and exponential ease-outs that overshoot slightly and settle, rather than straight-line fades.
  • Varied entrances: beats slam down, slide in, pop up or rise from behind an edge, so a long quote never repeats the same move twice in a row.
  • Clean hand-overs: each beat leaves with a quick punch-through before the next arrives.
  • A beat for the author: the name arrives after the last word has landed.

Pages split at natural pauses

Long quotes are split where a reader would pause: after a full stop first, then a semicolon or dash, then a comma, never straight after “the” or “of”. Pages are balanced so none is much longer than the others, and lines within a page are balanced too, so a lone word doesn’t hang on the last line. You can always override it: a blank line or a | in the text starts a new page, and My breaks uses only yours.

Every size

Kinetic text is laid out again for each size: tall and narrow for 9:16, square for posts, wide for 16:9. Text always stays inside the safe area, and you can export several sizes at once.

Kinetic typography questions

Do I need to set keyframes?

No. Pick a style and the timing, sizes and movement are worked out from your words. You can still change the pace, the page breaks and which words stand out.

Can I use my own font?

Choose from the fonts in Style or the text’s Font setting; heavy display faces suit Big words and Poster stack best.

Will it work with a voiceover?

Yes. With a voiceover the beats follow the speaker, word by word.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account and no watermark.
