The InShot workflow for a vertical quote video on your phone, what the free version includes, and a no-install alternative.
In InShot, start a new video with a background photo or clip, change the canvas ratio to 9:16, add your quote with the text tool and give it an animation, add music, and save the video. InShot’s store listings describe each of these features: ratios for TikTok and Instagram, your own pictures as a background, text with keyframe animation, your own music, and export up to 4K.
InShot doesn’t publish a help centre, so the steps below describe what to do rather than quoting button names that may change between versions. If you would rather not install an app, the maker at the top of this page does the job in your phone’s browser.
Open InShot, start a new video and pick a photo or clip from your library as the background.
Open the canvas or ratio setting and choose 9:16, the shape InShot’s listing recommends for TikTok.
Open the text tool, type the quote, choose a font and colour, and stretch the text to last the whole video.
Pick a text animation, or use keyframes for your own movement, then add music: InShot’s featured tracks or your own.
Save or export the video at 1080p and 30 fps for Reels, TikTok and Shorts.
InShot is free to download with in-app purchases. Its App Store listing shows Pro at $4.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $49.99 once, and a separate “Remove ads” purchase. Check in the app what the free version adds to exports before you post.
Open quote.video in Safari or Chrome, type the quote, press Browse templates, and choose Export. When it finishes, Share sends the MP4 to Photos, Instagram or TikTok. There is no watermark, and your photo and music stay on the phone.
