Canva’s steps for an animated quote video, from template to MP4 download, with the free-plan limits, plus a quicker route for a single quote.
In Canva, open a vertical video design (search Templates for “Instagram Reels video” and choose Customize this template, or start from Video), add your quote with Text → Add a text box, select it and choose Animate → Text to pick an effect such as Typewriter, add music from Audio, then Share → Download → MP4 Video.
The maker at the top of this page is a faster route for a single quote: the font, colours, animation and safe layout come as one template, and the text sizes itself. It runs in your browser without an account.
From the home page choose Video (or Create → Videos). Or go to Templates, search “Instagram Reels video” and press Customize this template.
In the side panel choose Text → Add a text box (or press T) and type the quote and author.
Select the text, choose Animate in the toolbar, open the Text tab and click an animation; set Slow, Medium or Fast. Animations tagged for Canva Pro need a paid plan.
Open Audio in the side panel (look under Apps if it’s not there) and drag a track onto the timeline. Tracks marked Pro are paid.
Choose Share → Download, set the file type to MP4 Video and download.
Canva’s help centre says free accounts can download MP4 videos up to 1920×1080 and 30 minutes, while paid plans go to 4K. Some animations and music tracks are Pro only, and popular music is limited to eligible plans and regions. A quote video sits well within the free limits.
Here, typing a quote updates over 400 animated templates at once, the type auto-fits every size, and Export can save 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 together in a ZIP. Use Canva when the quote is part of a larger design system you already keep there.
